has created a National Logistics Council which brings together in a single entity all the associations linked to the country’s logistics sector, but this needs to be given legal personality.
Marco Henríquez, past president of Adacam, explained that this council meets regularly and brings together the five entities responsible for air and maritime cargo that enters and leaves the Dominican Republic, such as the Association of Shipowners, the Association of Operators of Logistics Centers, the Association of Customs Agents, the Logistics Cluster of the Dominican Republic (CLRD) and Adacam.
He said that the council is made up of the four presidents of the aforementioned associations and the coordinator of the Logistics Cluster of the Dominican Republic (CLRD).

The president of Adacam, Ilsa Michelén, said that the council has been meeting for about two years and the issues that are discussed there are a support to agree on opinions with the General Directorate of Customs (DGA)to make recommendations and also when something is not working to be able to sound the alert.
He expressed that the council is a consultative entity, although it is not legally functioning. He stressed that once its formal creation is achieved, they will be able to contribute more to the development of the sector.
