The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reported on Tuesday that the Public Ministry has the elements of conviction to charge those responsible for the disappearance of the revolutionary leader, Carlos Lanz.
Saab, who spread the information through his account on the social network Twitter, described the event as a “terrible crime.”
“In this sense, this Wednesday I will offer a press conference from the headquarters of the Public Ministry to give the details that incriminate the intellectual and material authors of this atrocious act,” he stressed.
For his part, Alex Lanz, son of Carlos Lanz, spoke out to ask Prosecutor Saab to rule forcefully on the case.
He also expressed the collaboration that the case has received from thousands of people to help clarify it.
Likewise, the Committee for the Search and Release of Carlos Lanz, ruled on Tuesday in the framework of the investigation carried out by the Public Ministry (MP) in relation to the disappearance of the professor and revolutionary militant.
The platform, in your statementremarked that “it does not accuse or exculpate anyone a priori”, while recalling that “without violating the principle of presumption of innocence, every person is likely to be called in the course of an investigation (…) the State must guarantee the respect for the right to defense”.
Facts
Carlos Lanz, renowned writer and revolutionary leader, had devoted himself in recent years to research and warning about the fourth generation war that US imperialism is promoting against Venezuela.
On August 8, 2020, Lanz left his home, located in Maracay, Aragua state, leaving no indication of where he was going.
Since then, the authorities have deployed an intense search and extensive investigation to find his whereabouts.
The expertise of the case determined that there was no act of violence at the time of his disappearance.
Subsequently, at the end of August 2020, the issuance of the yellow alert from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) was requested in order to find the location of Lanz in any of the 14 member nations.
Then, in April of this year, it was revealed that since his disappearance, the Public Ministry had carried out nearly 100 procedures hand in hand with the different security and intelligence bodies in the country.
On that occasion, the prosecutor announced the authorization from a direct phone linein order to receive information about the teacher.
