In recent days, the National Government announced changes to the ‘Mi Casa Ya’ program, and although these seem simple, they have become a problem for many.
News Colombia.
Voices of rejection for some of the changes in the ‘My House Now’ program have been generated, some fear that they may be left without their homes, others that the delivery of subsidies will decrease and that the budget for this year has decreased.
In recent days some beneficiaries have been protesting.
With banners they arrived outside the Ministry of Housing to state their disagreement with the provisions.
Now, the National Government has announced within the changes that people who wish to participate in this program must be registered with Sisbén, this, contrary to how it had been done in previous years.
“I want my house now”, the protest now of several people in our Information Window.

And it is that many allege that having a work situation has helped them to support some of the expenses and as an obligation they have had to go to the subsidized health system.
Since the situation was not very clear, some thought that they would lose their money invested up to now in these social interest homes.
Given these changes, the beneficiaries are obliged to make the change of health system, said Catalina Velasco, Minister of Housing.
“If (the applicant) does not have a classification in the Sisbén, he must take steps to do so. After one year, if the household does not continue the process, their registration will be canceled and they will have to apply again.
In addition, these households will go from being ‘Enabled’ to ‘Interested’, they warn that “it is only a denomination”.
However, there is fear that if they do not meet the requirements they may “lose the talk,” they denounce.
This would leave those who “have not been able to deed their houses” in suspense, said Germán Vargas Lleras in an interview with Caracol Radio.
Cases have been found where there are people who have invested up to $18 million, since 2019. In cases like these, anxiety predominates.
This is how the changes were
As such, 4 are excepted, according to a statement published by the National Government:
- Being a Colombian citizen interested in acquiring new housing of social or priority interest.
- Not having been a beneficiary of another housing subsidy.
- Not owning a home in the national territory.
- That the applicant, through the Sisbén IV survey, has a classification equal to or lower than D11 (beneficiaries in urban sectors) or D20 (applicants in rural areas).
Low budget and low demand
Another of the sectors that have joined this voice of rejection are construction companies and unions of this type.
An example of this is Camacol Tolima, who were the loudest voices in saying that there was “underfunding,” according to the organization.
“Colombia needs 82,000 subsidies, an investment of approximately $2.5 billion,” explains Véliz Alfonso Mejía.
Starting today, February 13, we will make the first disbursement of the 2023 Mi Casa Ya subsidy program. The goal is that, thanks to the support of the Government of Change, more than 23,000 families in Colombia advance in their home buying process ????????https://t.co/K1RuDA9SlM pic.twitter.com/ZhhuGzZaCV

However, they have learned that it would be an investment of $1.5 billion for this program, which would be enough for “50 thousand subsidies,” confirms Véliz.
According to Camacol previously “the construction sector did not exceed 100,000 housing units. Subsequently, it reached the order of 170,000 units per year and the trend was upward.
What is ‘My House Now’?
This is a plan that seeks to provide subsidies for the purchase of new houses or apartments of social or priority interest.
This delivery of subsidies has already been running since 2015, it would be close to completing the 9 years, it has been sustained in the governments.
