The lawyer Richard Cayoja, a lawyer who defends the interests of the former director of the Mobile Patrol Unit (Umopar) Chapare, Lieutenant Colonel Yerko Terán, assured that there are “certain groups” within the anti-drug forces what protect and promote illicit drug trafficking activities.

MAS bench investigates Velasco’s background

The head of the MAS bench in the Chamber of Deputies, Gualberto Arispe, has requested information from the Minister of Government, Eduardo Del Castillo, so that explain the appointment of Colonel José María Velasco as national director of the Special Force to Fight Drug Trafficking (Felcn).

According to Arispe at a press conference, Velasco acted as “hostess” by Jeanine Áñez and he was in charge of escorting her in November 2019 when she arrived at the El Alto airport before assuming the presidency.

The MAS deputy questions how Velasco was appointed to the position of National Director of the Felcn. “It draws attention and in that sense we are asking, through a Request for a Written Report to the Ministry of Government, so that it can inform us in what way (Velasco) has been designated, if they reviewed his background,” he said.
