The governor of Táchira state, Freddy Bernal, confirmed that to date 55 individuals have been arrested for acts of violence that occurred after the election day of July 28, who violated the law against hatred and terrorism.
“55 people arrested, convicted, confessed and with evidence, I do not have the details, it is not my job, some of them prosecuted under the hate law, with concrete evidence, witnesses, photos, among others, for them, according to the hate law, a minimum of eight years in prison,” he said.
He also said that there are another 26 arrest warrants in force, “we are looking for them under every rock,” the regional leader emphasized.
In this regard, he pointed out that these are the alleged perpetrators of several cases that have been reported by the authorities since days before the presidential elections and what happened during the violence unleashed after the election results were known.
“Those who are arrested for burning rubber, attacking facilities such as the Coloncito module, which they destroyed, who were discovered in a plan to leave seven states without electricity, those who confessed that they were going to burn the Junín Hospital, those who confessed that they were going to burn electoral centers, those who have been arrested with mortar cannons, also the crime of hate on the Internet, those who incite hatred, even homicide, on the Internet, who is in Venezuela, who is arrested, will be prosecuted,” he stressed.
He assured that all those detained in Táchira, under these accusations, will be transferred to the Western Penitentiary Center.
Finally, the governor of Táchira also pointed out that the operation is being carried out with more than 10 security and intelligence agencies that are part of the State.
