“Our voice will continue to fight and defend his memory, demanding identification and #DignifiedNotification,” he said.

“The identification and return of bodies waiting to return home can translate into new impacts on their families. To avoid further damage, the #DignifiedNotification protocol incorporates the psychosocial approach in forensic processes”, she exposed.

In October, the Undersecretary for Human Rights, Population and Migration of the Ministry of the Interior, Alejandro Encinas, reported that 106,780 people have disappeared in Mexico since 1964.

“It is the most painful inheritance that this government received, derived from the war against drug trafficking and the systematic violations of human rights, which generated a humanitarian crisis in the country. The State disregarded its responsibility in the search for people and in the protection of fundamental rights”, he pointed out.

The official explained that in this administration the National Registry of Disappeared and Not Located Persons was created, which has made it possible to know that up to now 264,277 people have been reported as missing in the last 58 years.

Of these, 106,780 (40%) remain missing and 157,497 (60%) have already been located.

For six-year terms, that of Enrique Peña Nieto is the one that has had the most reports of missing persons. During those six years, 109,250 disappearances were reported: 72,525 (66%) were located; 36,725 (34%) did not.

In the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, 103,833 people have been reported as missing, not located and located, of which 59,709 (57%) have already been located. Of 59,709 (43%) their whereabouts are still unknown.

The undersecretary acknowledged that Mexico is also going through a forensic crisis, as there are 52,000 unidentified human bodies. In addition, he said, 2,386 clandestine graves have been identified and 4,180 bodies have been exhumed so far since December 2018.

“Although the number of missing persons continues to show significant growth, fortunately the number of located persons is greater,” he said.
