Despite the deficit of infrastructure that exists in the country, there are 1,879 paralyzed works at the three levels of government, revealed a report from the Comptroller General of the Republic.
These works total S/21,595 million, of which a balance of more than S/10,374 million remains to be executed, as of December 31, 2022.
According to the control body, 70.6% of these projects are in the local government, although by amount, it is the national government that has a greater investment balance to be disbursed.
“The departments that concentrate the largest number of paralyzed investments are Cusco (288), Puno (232), Piura (114), Cajamarca (113) and Áncash (110). While Callao (7), Tumbes (11), Madre de Dios (14), Ucayali (19) and Ica (28) register the least number of paralyzed works,” said the Comptroller.

By sectors, the largest number is found in Transportation and Communications, which leads the list with 493 unexecuted initiatives. In Housing, Construction and Sanitation there are 356, while in Agriculture 230.
“It is appreciated that the largest number of works (241) registers a physical progress of 60% to 70%, representing an investment amount of S/1,959 million, followed by 240 records that are with a physical progress of 80% to 90 %”, indicated the Comptroller.
According to the information, most of the works have been stopped because there is a lack of financial resources and liquidity, and due to breach of contract.
