Almost three weeks after the public hearings organized by the Presidential Commission for the Electoral Reform began, it has received 112 written proposals in which some of the topics set out in person in the open forums are replicated.
Meanwhile, the president of the General Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE), Guadalupe Taddei Zavala, submitted her application to participate in one of the public audiences. The commission reported through its website that it will be in which it is made in Sonora where you will go.
Last week, at the guest of a seminar organized at the Institute of Legal Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Taddei Zavala explained that the INE must maintain its autonomy and remain completely oblivious to political dynamics.
He also stressed that the election of electoral counselors through citizen vote is unfeasible, since being an autonomous body, this mechanism could not be applied, so he differentiated him from the last process to elect members of the Judiciary and called to maintain the local electoral public bodies.
In addition to public hearings, the Presidential Commission opened the possibility that the population present proposed in writing. Among the 112 he has received until yesterday there are documents sent by some of the speakers who have also attended to present their texts.
Last week, President Claudia Sheinbaum said that she will present her suggestions in this matter before the commission, among which she said that the jurisdictions for legislators must be eliminated.
