“We meet today at a decisive turning point, not only for the WTO, but for the multilateral system,” he declared at a press conference at the organization’s headquarters in Geneva.
“We must change to be in tune with our times. The world evolves so quickly… if you look at the speed at which technology advances,” he continued, alluding to Artificial Intelligence and quantum technologies.
“If the organization doesn’t adapt, then it will be overwhelmed,” he predicted.
WTO reform will be discussed once again during the organization’s next ministerial conference, March 26-29 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
