CDMX, Mexico.-Hundreds of Haitians They arrived this morning in eastern Cuba by mistake, reported journalist Mario Pentón. The reporter shared images and videos where the boat full of migrants can be seen.
The Haitians probably arrived in Ceiba Hueca, a coastal town in the Granma province, by mistake. It is not the first time that migrants from that nation have accidentally arrived in Cuba. Once on the island of the Castros, the usual procedure is to deport them back to Port-au-Prince.

In a video published by the reporter, it can be seen that several locals came to the shore to see what was happening with the unexpected visitors.
It’s not the first time
only in the past month of Juneor two groups of Haitians arrived in Cuba through different ports. First, on the 18th of that month, a sailboat with dozens of migrants who were trying to reach the United States landed on the coast of Baracoa, in the Guantánamo province.
A little over a week later, 178 Haitians landed in Cayo Francés, territory belonging to the municipality of Caibarién, in Villa Clara. At that time, the Granma newspaper assured that the migrants would be returned to their country, as had happened with other groups that were stranded on Cuban territory. Cuba should have assumed the repatriation.
Last July, the mistake was repeated. Another boat in that case with 141 migrants from the nation was adrift for eight days and ended up on Cuban soil, in the province of Cienfuegos.
In the group there were 22 children and several pregnant women, as well as older adults.
Almost a month earlier, on May 24, a boat with more than 800 Haitian migrants landed on the coast of Caibarién. While in February 2022, a precarious boat with 292 Haitians also arrived on the north coast of the province of Ciego de Ávila, including 56 minors.
