The women’s group belonging to the Permanent Forum on Foreign Policy issued a public statement of support for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonia Urrejolawhich is why they point to “a climate of discord and systematic attacks” towards their performance.
As indicated in the document, the constant criticism “seeks to overshadow the achievements already mentioned, but rather promotes misinformation, hinders the necessary efforts to consolidate a 21st-century State foreign policy, leads the debate to a crossroads of opinions in the domestic sphere and perpetuate sexist dynamics towards women in leadership positions.”

The text highlights those achievements that have been perpetrated during these four months in Chile’s international relations, such as “the approval of the Escazú Agreement by Congress, leading the launch of the Americas Coalition for the Protection of the Ocean at the last Summit of the Americas, the ratification of the Protocol of San Salvador before the Organization of American States, the meeting between his Bolivian counterpart, Minister Roger Maytawhere it was agreed to resume the bilateral agenda based on the roadmap started in 2021, marking a new stage in our relationship with Bolivia and the promotion of the Feminist Foreign Policy are outstanding milestones”.
Faced with this and the vision of the women who make up this group is that they declare their support and solidarity towards the chancellor’s management.
“We are aware that making a Feminist Foreign Policy a reality, one of the pillars of the president’s program borik in international matters, it does not only involve a greater presence of women in the foreign service – so postponed and urgent, but which is being promoted with the appointment of ambassadors -, but also strengthens the gender perspective in all areas of government and in all levels, seeks to transform discriminatory power structures, requires and promotes a greater cultural change that recognizes women on equal terms and as agents of change”, they conclude.
