Hundreds of women from all over the province of Jujuy renewed this Thursday the affective commitment that unites them by godmothership or friendship within the framework of the traditional “Thursday of Comadres” How full of color and dance the previous carnival.
Gathered in family homes, bars, neighborhood clubs, institutions of traditional groups, and public spaces in various towns, the women made their presence felt by wearing a sprig of basil in their ears and flowered with talc and streamers.
In some places, such as in the historic city of Humahuaca, the chicheras they offered the ancestral to the Pachamamawhile they joined to participate in a new edition of the Chicha and Copla Festival.
During the “Thursday of Comadres” the protagonists renew the bonds of friendship and offer each other and ratify the commitment as godmothers of their children, accompanied by the sponsorship of the compadres.
In a bar in the capital of Jujuy for the eighth consecutive year, close friends, comadres and lovers of folk music started theThe festivities that will last until late at night pure couplet, dance and folklore.
“The godmother is a lifelong commitment that two friends or relatives assume that not only has to do with godmothership, but also with the responsibility that friendship ties carry as if they were a family,” Susana Campos told Télam, cultural manager and owner of the Jujuicito bar.
In this place, women with their sons and daughters, couples and friends gathered to celebrate Thursday of comadres, but not before sharing the main dish of this celebration known as spicy chicken.
The billboard was made up of all female artists, among them, the singers Pato Warmi Ramos, Daniela Salas, Caro Escobar, Yesica Carrasco, Elsa Tapiaamong other artists who raised their song in a climate of merriment.
In turn, Ana Irahola, a communicator from Jujuy, stated that during the “Thursday of comadres”, “the matriad is shared with the person or persons who chose them as godmother of their children”, she explained, indicating that this “involves a deep commitment in the day by day of the godson”.
Likewise, she vindicated the “sense of belonging of women” and asked that the artists occupy greater places on the stages of the festivals that take place in the province of Jujuy.

Towards the afternoon, the copious rain that fell in San Salvador de Jujuy did not prevent the festivity from taking place in the places where flags of the participating groups, multicolored pennants could be seen and drinks such as saratoga, wine and beer were shared.
Nor was there a lack of streamers on the shoulders of the happy comadres who also invited the compadres to join the characteristic dance of the carnival of the Quebrada de Humahuaca as cuecas, bailecitos, taquiraris and carnavalitos.
In this way, the arrival of the carnival is perceived throughout the province, which will begin this Saturday with the unearthing of the devil of joy and will last until next Sunday, February 26.
