The water consumption limits that the CRA would set for Bogotá and the rest of the country

As part of this strategy, the entity has ready a draft resolution in which some consumption limits are established. The limits set are for both residential and non-residential users.

According to the document, for cities above 2,000 meters above sea level, such as Bogotá, the maximum consumption for strata 1 to 4 would be set at 12 m³ per month. For strata 5 and 6, the ceiling would be 10 m³ per month and for all socioeconomic sectors the ceiling would be defined at 22 m³ per month.

In the particular case of the capital, It is important to keep in mind that the service charge is bimonthly. in the areas where the Bogotá Aqueduct Company issues the invoice and it is monthly in the sectors where Enel Colombia generates the receipts.

Now, the draft resolution also defines consumption ceilings for cities and municipalities between 1,000 and 2,000 meters above sea level. In these territories, The limits would be 13 m³ per month for strata 1 to 4 and 11 m³ per month for strata 5 and 6.

As for the municipalities that are located below 1,000 meters above sea level, the limit would be 15 m³ for strata 1 to 4 and 13 m³ for the highest strata.

Regarding non-residential users or subscribers (commercial, industrial and official) and the common areas of residential properties of the horizontal and multi-user property regime that do not have a meter, the draft mentions that the “target consumption” will be equivalent to 90% of the arithmetic average of the measured consumption recorded for the last 12 monthscounted from the beginning of the application of the measure.

The text is currently open to comments, so it could present some modifications. In that sense, it is expected that the resolution will be available for debate on next November 7so that the CRA can subsequently issue it officially.
