The value of the dollar on the parallel market exceeds 100%

On the streets and on social media, dollar sales exceed 100% of the official price. While In the Mutualista market, some money changers offered it for up to Bs 14 and social networks the price ranges between Bs 13.33 and Bs 14.

This rate has been in place since last weekend, while the price of the currency continues to rise. For example, In December 2023 the sale value was Bs 7.70, In February of this year it rose to Bs 8.50, in May it reached Bs 8.70, while in June it exceeded Bs 9.

Last month was when the dollar rose sharply, going from Bs 9.50 to Bs 10.20 (July 18). Then it climbed to Bs 11.50, even at Bs 12.50 (until July 30), and in August it began with a value higher than Bs 13.

While this is the case in the parallel market, in some exchange houses located in the center of Santa Cruz the value remains at Bs 6.97, which is the official exchange rate, but the disadvantage is that they do not have foreign currency.
