The UTEP (Union of Workers of the Popular Economy) advances this Wednesday a massive mobilization in the Obelisk, for which there are cuts in various points of the Buenos Aires microcenter, especially on Avenida 9 de Julio.
The Union reported that they will hold a day of assemblies under the slogan “Without popular power, there is no social justice.” The measure of the UTEP was voted last Friday in the cut that was made in the Pueyrredón Bridge.
From the UTEP stated in a statement that They protest “to demand that they stop adjusting those who have less and comply with the strengthening of the popular economy”: This is due to the recent casualties that occurred in Empowering Work.
For this reason, the organization demands that, in addition to guaranteeing the permanence of the program, it not be separated from the minimum, vital and mobile salary, as the Government presumably plans to establish.
“We demand that this social salary, today called Potenciar Trabajo, not be separated from the Minimum, Vital and Mobile Salary, which gives it a minimum support for its updating, and that the Christmas bonus be guaranteed for these workers who invented a double job valuable in exclusion”, they indicated.
Likewise, the organization stated that Empowering Work was a right that they won six years ago: “We will never resign it.” They were also emphatic in stating that “they will not allow more casualties” in the program.
Although the protest has the Obelisk as its epicenter, marches are also taking place in different parts of the country, especially in the squares of provincial capitals.
Which streets are affected by the cuts
Due to the day of protests that the union organization, traffic and mobility in downtown Buenos Aires have been affected. In this frame, sections are presented from the Obelisk to San Juan avenue.
