Associations of residential users of the Edesur company demanded this Friday that the national government take the necessary measures for the company to reinstall the service in places where it remains cut off and, in addition, to pay financial compensation for direct damage, after nearly one million users lost power between February 8 and 13.
Last Wednesday, the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, instructed the Ministry of Energy and the National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) to apply a fine of $1,000 million to Edesur for the quality deficiencies in the service it provides.
To this will be added the implementation of necessary mechanisms to return the entire invoice paid during the last month to users who have been victims of cuts above the average established in the contract.

“Edesur SA has systematically failed to comply with the conditions for the provision of electric power service for many years,” assured the ENRE Users Commission, which is made up of about twenty neighborhood and consumer associations.
In this regard, they indicated that in the last semi-annual review that the ENRE made for the From March to August 2022, Edesur failed to comply with the Saifi indicator -which measures the duration of the average interruption of the system and indicates the total duration of the interruption for the client- in ten districts in the south of the Buenos Aires suburbs (Almirante Brown, Berazategui, Cañuelas, Esteban Echeverría, Ezeiza, Florencio Varela, Lomas de Zamora , President Perón, Quilmes and San Vicente) and in Communes 4, 8, 9 and 15 of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

“Edesur SA users who have suffered outages need the immediate resumption of service and, in those cases in which the network is not yet in good condition, appropriate contingency plans must be urgently arbitrated so that all affected users have a prompt solution”, assured the consumers.
And they added: “We demand that they be established in accordance with article 40 bis, of the Consumer Defense Law Economic compensation for Direct Damage to each of the affected users, without any of them having to make claims individually”.
