(EFE).- The United States Senate approved a resolution on Tuesday to name the street in front of the Cuban Embassy in Washington after Cuban opponent Oswaldo Payá, who died in 2012.
The measure was proposed by Republican Senators Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, and by Democrats Bob Menéndez, Dick Durbin and Ben Cardin.
A similar measure was proposed in the House of Representatives in March by a group of lawmakers from both parties.

This Monday, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) revealed in a report that there are “serious and sufficient indications” to conclude that Cuban state agents participated in the death of opposition members Oswaldo Payá and Harold Cepero, who died in a traffic accident in 2012, and blamed the Cuban State for event.
The ruling includes a list of recommendations at the end, of which the first is to “comprehensively repair the human rights violations declared in this report, both material and non-material.”
