The United States assured this Saturday, February 14, that, although it is proud to provide assistance to Venezuela, the Delcy Rodríguez government will reimburse the cost of the more than 6,000 kilos of priority medical supplies sent to the country.

“The interim authorities of Venezuela have agreed to reimburse the United States for the cost of this and any future deliveries,” said the organization, which has framed this aid in a program for the transition in Venezuela after the capture of Nicolás Maduro by US forces.
The State Department announced the shipment by air of the first 25 pallets with more than 6,000 kilograms of medical supplies to Venezuela “as part of the Administration’s three-phase plan (of President Donald Trump) for the stabilization, recovery and transition of Venezuela.”

This represents the “first shipment of a significant effort to increase the supply of critical medical items” to that country, aimed at promoting “the transition toward a stable, prosperous and democratic Venezuela that serves as a market for American products and innovations in our region,” Deputy State Spokesperson Tommy Pigott said in a statement.
“The US continues to work with Venezuela’s interim authorities to execute our three-phase plan to support Venezuela’s economic recovery and political reconciliation,” he concluded.
After the capture of Maduro in early January and his transfer to New York to be tried for drug trafficking, the White House has established a gradual process for the Venezuelan transition and has decided that for the moment this will be managed, under the supervision of Washington, by the Government of Delcy Rodríguez.
