The US reiterates concerns about AMLO's electricity reform

Finally, the statement from the US diplomatic headquarters warns about the reform proposed by the president, as it says “it puts at risk billions of dollars of potential investment in Mexico and the increase in greenhouse gas emissions.”

It highlighted the positions on clean energy expressed by Kerry and Ambassador Ken Salazar.

“We are at a crucial moment. We must accelerate the fight against climate change, and to do so, we need to work together to seize the economic opportunity that clean energy development presents,” Secretary Kerry said. At the end of yesterday’s meetings, Ambassador Salazar echoed this sentiment, stating that “the United States and Mexico have an extraordinary opportunity to create an economic power in North America, leading the world in clean energy. Mexico is our most important partner and is endowed with an extraordinary potential for renewable energy that must be exploited”.
