The US includes Nicaragua on the list of drug transit countries

United States included Nicaragua as one of the main countries of transit of drugs or production of illicit drugs, indicates the memorandum of President Joe Biden published on September 15.

The US president’s administration identified on the list Afghanistan, Bahamas, Belize, Burma, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Laos, Mexico, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

The reason they are included is “a combination of geographic, commercial, and economic factors that allow drug transit or production to occur, even if a government has implemented rigorous and diligent law enforcement and narcotics control measures,” indicates the White House.

In the text, posted on the State Department websiteThe United States indicates that the presence of a country on the list “does not constitute a reflection of the efforts made by its government against drugs or the level of cooperation” with the North American country.

It singles out, in particular, Afghanistan, Burma, Bolivia, and Venezuela “for demonstrably failing to meet their responsibility to make substantial efforts over the preceding 12 months” under international counternarcotics agreements. Therefore, Biden determined that the programs that support these countries “are vital to the national interests of the United States.”

He also assured that the North American nation is determined to work with the countries of the Western Hemisphere, as neighbors and partners, to face the challenges they share in terms of drug production, trafficking and consumption, and to counteract the harmful impact of drug-related corruption.

The Biden Administration has requested $24.3 billion in the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget for prevention and treatment initiatives and investments to reduce the supply of illicit drugs originating outside the United States.

The millions “abandoned” by drug traffickers who fall into the hands of Daniel Ortega’s Police

A data analysis done by Article 66 in alliance with Public Filebased on the compilation of information from press releases of the National Police, revealed that in 63 operations against “transnational drug trafficking”, the institution seized at least 38,083,916 million dollars, from 2017 to June 2002, without reporting, until now. What has been the distribution of that money?

The analysis carried out by this means of communication It also reveals a significant increase in the number of breakages and in the amounts seized after the April Rebellion in 2018 and the sanctions imposed by the United States Department of the Treasury a few months ago.

A suspicious “coincidence” that while drug seizures fell in such a notorious way, the dollars continued to arrive in abundance and, coincidentally, are found without any capo in charge, in the country that is called the retaining wall.

“It’s really a fiction,” said sociologist Elvira Cuadra, referring to the retaining wall strategy used by the Government, the Army and the Police before the international community to project the image that they are effective in the fight against organized crime.
