Regarding the fight against sexual exploitation of children and adolescents, in Medellín, thanks to the coordinated work between the Mayor’s Office of Medellín and international organizations, An increase of 1,100 was achieved in the arrests of foreigners involved in this crime in 2024.
This achievement is the result of a comprehensive strategy that includes the creation of the Group against Sexual Exploitation and Human Trafficking (Geset), the implementation of a hotline for victims and collaboration with international agencies such as HSI, Interpol and the Embassy of the United States.

In 2024, 12 foreigners linked to the sexual exploitation of minors were captured. In addition, 23 additional arrests of foreigners for sexual crimes were made, with an increase of 283%.
It is worth mentioning that the Rionegro Airport launched the Task Force’ strategy, dedicated to preventing the sexual exploitation of minors. This initiative aims to carry out rigorous controls to detect and prevent the sexual exploitation of boys, girls and adolescents. .
This unit is responsible for verifying foreigners entering the countryreviewing not only their criminal records, but also their travel plans, in order to ensure that they are not involved in sexual exploitation crimes.
