The US has “priority efforts” to release its detainees in Venezuela

During a press conference, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that among the highest priorities for the country is the release of Americans detained by the Venezuelan authorities.

“Our Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs, Roger Carstens, has made a couple of trips to Venezuela to work on these cases, and we will continue to do so quietly in an effort to make progress,” Price said.

When asked about the possibility of a exchange of Alex Saab for the Americans detained by Caracas, detained in the United States, Price chose not to comment, emphasizing that speaking publicly about these cases “does no good”.

Price also did not comment on the possibility of reactivate commercial air connections between Caracas and Miami or whether they were planning to reopen the embassy of the United States and Venezuela.
