Five alleged members of the Criminal Band of Aragua were extradited from the United States to Chile, including an individual who would be directly linked to the kidnapping and murder of former Military Ronald Ojeda, according to Chilean authorities on Wednesday, October 1.

The five accused, all of Venezuelan nationality, are accused of crimes related to organized crime such as kidnapping, homicide, extortion and migrant trafficking.

They arrived in Chile on Tuesday night and were immediately transferred to a high security prison complex in Santiago.

“The five subjects were delivered by the Investigation Police (PDI) … all in individual cells with their respective fiscal clothing and in the maximum security section of this enclosure,” the National Director of Gendarmerie of Chile, María Angélica Aguirre Cárdenas, told a press conference.

The extradited are Edgar Javier Benítez Rubio, aka “El Strawberry”, linked to the kidnapping and homicide of Ronald Ojeda; Jesús Alberto Golding Escalona, ​​member of the so -called “Disaster Train”, pointed out by the Antofagasta Prosecutor’s Office for Trafficking in Sexual Exploitation, Migrants Traffic, Homicide and kidnapping; Yhonaiker Gabriel Sequera Olivero, sought by homicide in Coquimbo; Miguel Eduardo Oyola Jiménez, accused of kidnapping and illicit association in Tarapacá; and Gregoris José Cortez Fernández, formalized in absence for the qualified homicide of Juan Ortiz Fuentealba, aka “El Kal”.

OPERATIVE AGAINST THE ARAGUA TRAIN

This Wednesday, an operation was reported against alleged members of the Aragua Train in Chicago, United States, where about 300 federal agents participated.

According to the EVTV reportthe operation was carried out in the South Shore neighborhood and included support from the border patrol. More than two dozen people were detained in the procedure. Witnesses reported blows, screams and the participation of snipers from helicopters during the night raid.

The Venezuelan criminal band Train de Aragua is cataloged as a terrorist organization by the United States government. On January 21, President Donald Trump signed an executive order where he classifies them as such, together with the Mexican posters and the Salvadoran gang MS-13.
