The United States Department of Homeland Security (USA) ad on October 12, a new process that allows Venezuelan nationals and their immediate family members to enter the United States in a safe and orderly manner.
This so that Venezuelan nationals who are outside the United States and do not have entry documents to the US are considered, on a case-by-case basis, for advance authorization to travel and a period of temporary stay permit for up to two years for humanitarian reasons and of public benefit.
To participate in this process, Venezuelan nationals must:
- Have a support person in the United States;
- Undergo and pass a robust security investigation;
- Meet other eligibility criteria; Y
- Merit a favorable exercise of discretion.
People involved in the process must have a support person in the United States who agrees to provide financial support for the duration of their temporary stay in the United States.
The first step in the process is for the support person who is in the United States to file a Form I-134, Statement of Financial Supportwith USCIS, for each Venezuelan national or immediate family member they wish to support, including minors.
The US government will then investigate the support person to make sure that they can financially support the person they have agreed to support.
