The influencer couple apologized for the statements offered about the alleged death: «All the information was for fear, for despair, they did not answer us, they did not tell us if it was true or lie. They only told us that he died. We need a confirmation that he is fine »
The United States Department of National Security denied that the Venezuelan influencer Luis Manuel Rivas Velásquez had killed in the prison of Aligator Alcatraz on Wednesday, August 5, as relatives denounced through a video broadcast on social networks.
In response to an information request sent by the journalist Carla Angolathe US authorities assured that the migrant suffered a “fainting.”
In El Correo, the Undersecretary Tricia McLaughlin states that “Rivas Velásquez passed out and was transferred to the hospital by caution. ICE is very seriously taken to protect those who are under their custody. We make sure that undocumented immigrants have access to adequate medical care.”
The official said that the influencer “is an undocumented criminal with criminal record that includes an arrest for robbery in Miami.”
After the information issued by the Department of Security, Rosana Navas, a couple of Rivas, published a new video in which he assured that the content creator is not a criminal and asked for a faith of life.
He explained that the inconveniences of the influencer with the North American authorities occurred after a family discussion.
“Luis is not a bad person, Luis is not violent, Luis did not stole anyone. Luis did not stole me. I had a nervous attack, I needed medical help, ”he said.
Navas apologized for the statements offered about the alleged death of his partner: «All the information was for fear, for despair, they did not answer us, they did not tell us if it was true or lie. They only told us that he died. We need a confirmation that he is fine, ”he said.
Navas, along with the influencer’s sister, published a video this Wednesday, August 7, in which they assured that Rivas had died and asked for help to repatriate his body to Venezuela.
«Yesterday (August 5) died in Aligator Alcatraz due to negligence of the United States government. He asked for medical attention and did not give it to him. I was full of sores, ate only once a day. We need help to move your body, to do justice, ”he said in the video broadcast on social networks.
*Journalism in Venezuela is exercised in a hostile environment for the press with dozens of legal instruments arranged for the punishment of the word, especially the laws “against hatred”, “against fascism” and “against blockade.” This content was written taking into consideration the threats and limits that, consequently, have been imposed on the dissemination of information from within the country.
