Mora’s approval took place by 51 votes in favor and 45 against.
The Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, was one of the first to celebrate the confirmation of the Cuban-American. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with the US Ambassador to the OAS to advance the agenda of democracy, human rights, security in the hemisphere, and sustainable development in the region,” wrote the official on his Twitter account.

Last May, during a Senate hearing, Mora thanked his parents for fleeing communist Cuba for the United States.
Thank you for your unwavering love and support, for the many sacrifices you made after fleeing communist Cuba so that my brother Jorge and I could have the chance to fulfill our dreams and give back to a country that so generously supported my family. ”, he said on that occasion.
“During the last twenty years, Dr. Mora has worked as a consultant to the Library of Congress, the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), the National Democratic Institute, the United States Department of State, the Organization of American States, and the Southern Command of the United States”, highlights his profile on the website of the Cuban Research Institute of FIU.
