The first hypotheses of the murder of the prosecutor Marcelo Pecci, state that those responsible for the event would be members of the organized armed group of the Clan del Golfo, which operates in the area where the event occurred.
The Colombian journalist, Stic Luengas Velandia, told the GEN channel of the Nación Media Group that the Colombian authorities were not aware of the prosecutor’s presence on those lands, since otherwise a protocol would have had to be applied to guarantee the security of the during your stay in the country.
He also mentioned that it is not common for this type of violence to occur in the Barú area, in the district of Cartagena, despite being an area of influence of the powerful organized armed group of the Clan del Golfo.
Precisely, he pointed out that the Gulf Clan has been carrying out an armed strike in several municipalities and departments for a few days, after the extradition to the United States of the drug trafficker leader Dairo Antonio Úsuga David, known by the aliases of “Otoniel”.
It is estimated that almost 200 trucks were incinerated throughout the country as a sign of protest by the Clan del Golfo.
“One of the hypotheses that is being discussed is that it could be the Clan del Golfo, which operates precisely in the department of Bolívar where Cartagena is located. They would have been paid assassins, we do not know if by Colombian mafias or from another country, “said the journalist.
He stressed that Pecci “was totally unprotected, he had no escorts nor was there a police presence”
On the other hand, he indicated that in the Cartagena area there is strict control over the use of jet skis, due to the constant accidents caused by drunken tourists, so elements could reach the hitmen.

FIGHT AGAINST THE GULF CLAN
It is worth mentioning that the Colombian president, Iván Duque, said that all the actions of the Clan del Golfo are a desperate and cowardly attitude as a result of the “Otoniel” extradition.
“They have been interested in making demonstrations of media anxiety to try to find some kind of negotiation approach taking advantage of the electoral contest,” he said.
In a Security Council meeting held in the town of Necoclí, in the department of Antioquia, President Duque launched the Search Block whose main objective will be to capture or kill the new leaders of the “Clan del Golfo” after the capture of alias “Otoniel”.
The new Search Block is made up of 700 men from the Police and 720 from the Army, who have been deploying an “unprecedented” offensive against the criminal gang’s commanders.
This new strategy to put an end to the Clan del Golfo, which is today the largest criminal group in Colombia, is also accompanied by 15 prosecutors to ensure that there is a rapid prosecution of those captured and speed up the processes of domain forfeiture.
