The US Coast Guard deports Cuban boxer Adrián Lescay

The United States Coast Guard returned the Cuban boxer, Adrián Lezcay, to the island. As published in a post BoxeoCubanothe native of Matanzas “spent seven days aboard an American coast guard.”

Until then, little was known about Lescay’s departure. Boxing expert Willie Suárez indicated last Monday that the Yumurino “threw into the sea in search of freedom and a better future,” but did not specify the day.

The boat in which Lescay was trying to reach the US was intercepted. According to Suárez, while on the ship, it was hoped that he would be taken to Guantanamo Bay or Florida where he could appear before “an immigration judge and present his case for political asylum.”

The boxer’s family and Cubans living in Miami made calls to the offices of congressmen in the state of Florida trying to prevent him from being returned. “I have been told that there have been many messages that have come worried about the young Cuban,” Suarez shared.

“At the age of 20, he defeated the Olympic runner-up Carlos Banteur and the current double champion, Arlen López”, highlighted SwingCompleto

Lescay reached relevance between 2010 and 2012. In the welterweight category, he became a member of the national boxing team. “At the age of 20 he defeated the Olympic runner-up Carlos Banteur and the current double champion, Arlen López”, highlighted SwingFull.

The exodus of Cubans by sea is unstoppable. It was recently learned that after leaving prison, where she spent ten months, the former prosecutor of the Supreme Court Yeilis Torres Cruzleft Cuba on a raft and was intercepted by US authorities on the high seas.

Journalist Mario J. Penton confirmed through her social networks that Torres “were not going to return her to the hands of the Cuban government.” The former prosecutor, who was arrested for the crime of attack after being attacked by the official announcer Humberto López, was sent to the Guantánamo Bay naval base.

The US Coast Guard repatriated 43 Cubans on May 21, transferred aboard the ship Bernard Webber. “The Coast Guard and our partners have increased air and surface patrols in the Straits of Florida, the Windward and Mona Passages,” it was announced through a release.
