The Ecuadorian Foreign Minister, Juan Carlos Holguín, met with the US Undersecretary of State, Wendy Sherman.
WASHINGTON. The U.S. government celebrated this Friday, April 1, 2022 the “strong condemnation” of Ecuador to the president of RussiaVladimir Putin, for his invasion of Ukraine. He also applauded the South American country’s commitment to the Human rightswith the Venezuelan refugees and against corruption.
The US State Department issued a statement after the Foreign Minister Ecuadorian, Juan Carlos Holguín, met in Washington with the deputy secretary of state American, Wendy Sherman.
“The undersecretary celebrated Ecuador’s strong condemnation of the premeditated war, without provocation and unjustified by the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, against Ukraine,” US diplomacy said in a statement.
The US government also recognized in the note the “regional leadership” of Ecuador in dealing with the climate crisis and the promotion of ecological conservation.
In addition, Sherman said that he hopes to continue working closely with Holguín to reinforce the economic and security ties between both countries. EFE
