Venezuelan authorities have said that there is an alleged plan advanced by “extremist sectors of the local right” to attack the US embassy in Caracas, amid tensions over the military deployment that Donald Trump’s administration has maintained since August in the Caribbean Sea.
The United States Government has avoided evaluating the alleged plan to attack its embassy in Caracas, which the Nicolás Maduro administration denounced a day earlier through several officials.
A spokesperson for the US Department told Europa Press that they do not comment “on diplomatic conversations nor do we disclose details of security procedures,” when consulted about the complaints made from Caracas.
According to the Venezuelan authorities, there is an alleged plan advanced by “extremist sectors of the local right” to attack the US diplomatic headquarters, amid tensions over the military deployment that the US has maintained since August in the Caribbean Sea.

Maduro said he reported that he informed a “European embassy” to convey the message to Washington. Likewise, he explained that the objective was to place an explosive in the vicinity of the Embassy in Caracas and stated that Washington already has all the information they collected.
The spokesperson recalled that “in March 2019, the United States Department of State withdrew all diplomatic staff from the Embassy in Caracas and suspended its operations. All consular services, both routine and emergency, remain suspended until further notice.
In this sense, he has reiterated that the safety of diplomatic personnel and its citizens abroad is “top priority” for the Government, which does not recommend its citizens travel to Venezuela “under any circumstances.”
