Madrid Spain.- The United States government demanded that the Cuban regime protect the right of its citizens to freedom of expression and assembly.
This Sunday, a few hours before commemorating the first anniversary of the historic anti-government demonstrations of July 11, the US Embassy in Havana urged the Government on the Island to guarantee that all citizens can travel freely without being harassed, that journalists can carry out their work without impediments and that Internet and telecommunications lines remain open.

Through a statement issued through its social networks, the diplomatic headquarters pointed out that “the unannounced military exercises and the arrest of activists and journalists show that the regime fears the freedom of expression of its own citizens.”
The diplomatic entity also recalled that on July 11, 2021, the Cuban authorities ruled out the protections for freedom of expression and assembly, despite being established in the Constitution.
“The government must fulfill its constitutional obligation, the courts must protect those rights and free the imprisoned protesters,” declared.
