“While we remain committed to working with the Government of Mexico to find a solution, our priority is the implementation of the sectoral agreement covering the rubber industry at Pirelli and the full protection of workers’ rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining at the plant,” he noted.
The second panel that was announced is for the complaint of denial of labor rights at the facility operated by Bader de México in the city of León, in the state of Guanajuato. The United States considered that more should be done to protect workers’ rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining at this plant.
“The serious allegations of employer interference in worker organizing efforts at Bader de México are anathema to these rights and require action. We look forward to working with the government of Mexico to resolve this case and defend the standards of the Treaty between the United States, Mexico and Canada,” said the USTR.
Finally, it reported a panel against a facility operated by Industrias Tecnos in Cuernavaca, Morelos.
The plant, which manufactures small arms ammunition, is also denied the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining.
“Industrias Tecnos workers must be able to exercise their rights without interference or reprisals,” he said.
The USTR indicated that in these three cases an agreement was not reached with Mexico.
