The government of Luis Lacalle Pou, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued a statement on the death of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, which took place on September 8.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Government and the people of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, mourns the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,” the statement begins.
“We extend our sincere condolences to His Majesty Charles III and the entire Royal Family, as well as to the British Government and people.”, they added.
And I add: “With a firm commitment to the service of her nation, Queen Elizabeth II knew how to give stability to her country and face global political and economic challenges during the years that her reign lasted.”.
He concluded by stating that Uruguay joins “the sorrow of the British people” with the death of “a memorable political personality.”
A “impressive woman”
The Vice President of the Republic, Beatriz Argimón, sent her condolences to the British people stating that it was a “impressive woman”.
For the deputy president, Elizabeth II was a “historical reference” since “he lived episodes and took a position, in addition”.
“A woman of great strength and loved by her people, who must be the best thing that can happen to someone who has exposure and authority,” he added.
