The unemployment rate stood at 9.4% in September, about 165,000 people

The INE presented its monthly report on “Activity, employment and unemployment” this Wednesday, November 3, this time corresponding to September 2021.

According to the study, for the entire country the activity rate stood at 61.6% in September, the employment rate at 55.8% and the unemployment rate at 9.4%.

Unemployment throughout the year was as follows: in January it stood at 10.7%, in February 11.1% (the highest figure of the year), in March and April it remained at 9.7%, May 10 , 2%, June 9.4%, July 10.4% and August 10.5%.

In women, unemployment was 10.5%

On the other hand, when observing the characteristics of employed persons, it is estimated that “10.4% are underemployed, while the non-registration of social security for their main job stood at 22.4%”.

In Montevideo, unemployment was 10.1% while in the interior it was 8.9%.

On the other hand, the INE details that in men, unemployment stood at 8.4% and in women it was 10.5%.
