The INE presented this Friday, December 31, its monthly report on “Activity, employment and unemployment”, this time corresponding to November 2021.

In November, for the country as a whole, the activity rate stood at 61.8%, the employment rate at 57.2% and the unemployment rate at 7.4%. In October, unemployment was 8%, while the activity rate stood at 61.8% and the employment rate at 56.8%.

When observing the characteristics of the employed persons in November, it is estimated that “9.7% are underemployed, while the non-registration to social security for their main job stood at 22.3%”.

The report also highlights that unemployment in Montevideo, in November, was 7.3%, while in the interior, 7.4%.

Likewise, unemployment continues to affect women (8.7%) more than men (6.2).

Evolution

Throughout the year, unemployment evolved as follows: in January it stood at 10.7%, in February 11.1% (the highest figure of the year), in March and April it remained at 9.7% , May 10.2%, June 9.4%, July 10.4%, August 10.5%, September 9.4%, October 8% and November 7.4%.
