The president of the Argentine Industrial Union, Daniel Funes de Rioja, asked to go ahead with payment mechanism in local currencies with Brazil to facilitate trade between both nations.
Funes de Rioja considered that “it is urgent and necessary to move quickly between the central banks of both countries with this mechanism of compensation and access in local currency to facilitate our commercial traffic”.
UIA authorities participated in a trade mission to São Paulo together with the Minister of Productive Development, Daniel Scioli, and the president of the Federation of Industrialists of the State of São Paulo (FIESP), José Gómez Da Silva.
During the meeting it was agreed move forward with the strengthening of the local currency system for trade between the two countries.
UIA representatives participated in a working meeting with Minister Scioli; the Secretary of Industry, Ariel Schale; the president of FIESP, Gómez Da Silva; the Governor of the State of São Paulo, Rodrigo García; and the governor of Entre Ríos, Gustavo Bordet.
The strengthening of the Payment System in Local Currency, regulatory cooperation in terms of technical regulations, the de-bureaucratization of Mercosur, sustainability initiatives that enhance regional value chains, a common strategy in terms of connectivity -transit and logistics- both physical and digitalwere some of the topics addressed.

At the close of the day, the UIA, the Ministry of Productive Development and FIESP agreed on the importance of continuing with the work agenda with a view to future meetings.
The UIA delegation was also made up of the entity’s secretary, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez; the Vice President of International Relations, Luis Tendlarz; the vice president of the steel sector, David Uriburu, the president of the Industrial Union of the Province of Buenos Aires (UIPBA), Martín Rappalini; the president of the Franco-Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rodrigo Pérez Graziano; and the executive director and chief economist, Diego Coatz.
