The UCR elects a president amid the boiling that generated the rupture in Deputies

Gerardo Morales appears with better chances to win the position.

LThe Radical Civic Union must elect its new head this Friday to replace deputy Alfredo Cornejo, and although the governor of Jujuy Gerardo Morales appears with better chances to win the positionFrom the minority sector of the party, headed by Senator Martín Lousteau, they continue to fight to position themselves and obtain places in the leadership.

The election of the head of the National Committee of the UCR is carried out through party delegates, who are summoned for noon at the historic party headquarters on Calle Alsina.

The representation is carried out through 4 delegates per province, which multiplied by 24 (by the 23 provinces plus the CABA) total 96 people, a number to which are added the representatives of radical workers, youth and the Purple Strip ( university branch), so the final figure will be 102.

However, of that number, only 94 delegates will be able to exercise their vote in plenary, since eight delegates from two districts that are intervened must be subtracted: Tucumán and Santiago del Estero.

The governor of Jujuy, Gerardo Morales, is the one who in the previous one appears with more chances of staying with the party leadership: the count of delegates would give him, according to what they advance from his sector, about 61, much more than half plus one of the necessary to rise with the triumph.

From the internal Evolution line that has in Lousteau its main figure, although it is also made up of the deputy Emiliano Yacobitti and the leader Enrique Coti Nosiglia, they trust in being able to achieve up to 42 wills
From the internal line Evolution (which has its main figure in Lousteau, although it is also made up of the deputy Emiliano Yacobitti and the leader Enrique “Coti” Nosiglia) they trust in being able to achieve up to 42 wills.

In Morales’ space they affirm that Lousteau and his own have 25 delegates in favor, although from the internal line Evolution (which has its main figure in Lousteau although it is also made up of the deputy Emiliano Yacobitti and the leader Enrique “Coti” Nosiglia) they trust in being able to achieve up to 42 wills.

This Friday, the negotiations continued to reach the plenary with the greatest possible consensus and try to moderate the climate of tension that has been installed in the radicalism in the last two months.

This climate became heated after the breakdown of the bloc in Deputies (where Evolution decided to form a separate bench with 12 legislators), with the strong personal counterpoint that Morales and Lousteau starred in the last meeting of the National Committee and with the election of the new head of the Radical Youth.

This last charge, which fell to the Corrientes Valeria Pavón, belonging to the current led by Morales, was defined in the middle of a very tense election in which there were blows, shoves and attacks between the different sectors, with accusations of intervention by patotas linked to soccer clubs.

The other option for the Lousteau sector is to try to judicialize the election.

In the case of betting on the legal route, from Evolution they would denounce irregularities in the mandates of delegates before the Justice and invoke the antecedents of the intervention of some districts as well as the judicialization that took place in the Buenos Aires UCR when the party authorities of Buenos Aires were elected. jurisdiction.

In defining the result, it will be key what the Mendoza delegates vote, who is led by the current head of the party and brand-new senator for that province, Alfredo Cornejo.

A recent move by Cornejo himself – his stance on the breakdown of the radical bloc in Deputies, where he remained with the majority sector – would indicate that his delegates would vote for Morales to head the National Committee.
