Next Saturday, April 15, the National Hiking Congress (Conex) will take place in the Aula Magna of the Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB) located in Montalbán.
The free entry event is organized by the mountain group Magis to the Extremeattached to the Directorate of Identity and Mission of UCAB, whose objective is to provide a space where the different groups that are dedicated to hiking and environmental preservation in Venezuela converge, to rescue and give visibility to what the organizations that are doing dedicated to this activity.
«Activities related to hiking in Venezuela date back a few decades. That is why the National Hiking Congress is considered as a space in which the different groups and hiking centers that have been dedicated to these activities for years can interact, “said Celimar Albornoz, a student of Social Communication at UCAB and member of the organizing committee. , who mentioned that they expect the attendance of more than 300 people.
In addition to strengthening the links between the invited organizations, the conference hopes to open a window for learning and updating on the subject. For this reason, the participants will be able to listen to the presentations of personalities from the world of Venezuelan camping. They will also be able to approach groups and companies that have projects linked to this area.
«We are going to carry out different talks referring to the past and present of mountaineering in Venezuela, by Alfredo Autiero; one on the environmental impact of hiking in national protected areas, given by Frida Ayala; one on the contributions of the Andrés Bello Catholic University in the field of ecology and sustainability, by a representative of the Environmental Sustainability Department, and a final talk by Charles Brewer Carías. We will also have conferences by rescue groups and a block where various organizations and people will explain their hiking projects to us,” added Diego Elezaida, UCAB Industrial Relations student and another of the organizers.
The National Hiking Congress will take place between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm.
