The rectory of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) unit Xochimilco, addressed a message to its community, in response to the student strike: Academic activities in all their modalities are declared on pause
in order to meet the demands of dissatisfied students.
However, the members of the student assembly, who are on strike at UAM-X due to an alleged case of sexual harassment, denounced threats from the university union, students and teachers, for which they blame the general rectory.
The university authority, for its part, points out that Given the student strike and the closure of the facilities since last 10th, teaching activities are on pause in order to contribute to creating the conditions that allow us, as a community, to meet the demands expressed by students within the framework of institutional regulations

Thus, it reiterates the need to advance in the dialogue in order to fully resume activities in our unit. We reaffirm our commitment to continue strengthening an environment free of violence against women and respectful of diversity

Meanwhile, the strikers announced a position in which they maintain: “During the night shift on March 12, the students who are in the facilities received threats and hostile messages from the union, the students and some teachers , who have called to retake unity by force.
“We request the help of the entire community and humanitarian brigades to gather the unit, and document (sic) the surroundings because the UAM security personnel declared that the general rectory has hired private security.
Given these facts, we question the budget for the five units and the payment to internal surveillance to deal with the strike
.
They also warn that they have taken two fire extinguishers to defend against any likely attack. Due to the above, in the face of any aggression suffered by the students of the UAM-Xochimilco who are in the facilities, we hold the UAM general rectory responsible.
