The rector of the Uagrm, Vicente Cuéllar, pledged support from the university to the decisions made by the council, which was summoned in demand of carrying out the census in 2023.
In his speech at the foot of Christ the Redeemer, Cuéllar pointed out that the university will always be at the side of his people.
“For those who said we were divided: we want to tell you that you are wrongbecause the absence of one or two people will not be able to stop the strength of millions of citizens who want a different Bolivia, with democracy and freedom,” he said.
He took the opportunity to give some figures of the department: 59% of the population is under 25 years old; shortly, the rector pointed out, more than 50% of Bolivians will live in Santa Cruz.
“When we ask for a census, it is not only for Santa Cruz, it is for all Bolivians”, he indicated, to later refer to those municipalities that are losing inhabitants.
In addition, he indicated that Of every 100 high school graduates, only 40 have access to higher education.
On the other hand, it requested a census in 2023, so that municipal and departmental governments and universities have the necessary financial resources to give better opportunities to the population and students.
Around 1,300,000 people attended the Cabildo, according to the organizers. Aerial images could be seen in which the human tide reaches the first ring, on Av. Monseñor Rivero; to Los Cusis, on Av. Banzer; to the Police Command on Av. Cristóbal de Mendoza, and to Av. Beni, at the other cardinal point.
