The Revolutionary Nationalist Movement (MNR) will retain its legal status and is authorized to participate in the 2025 national elections. according to a resolution issued by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
The decision of the electoral body, notified six days after the end of the established period, approves the updated party statutes and the results of the elections of the National Executive Committee, as well as the departmental leadership.
“We were worried because the term expired on the 7th of this month. We concluded internal democratization last September“said the national head of the MNR, Johnny Torres.
The movement leader said that, based on this resolution, the MNR is authorized to participate in the general elections on August 17 of next year.
For his part, the departmental head of the MNR, Paul Mendoza, pointed out that, with the TSE resolution, not only is legal status preserved, but Torres is also recognized as the national leader.
He added that now the challenge for this party is to consolidate the unity of the opposition for the 2025 elections.
Torres asked the opposition parties and leaders to exhaust all efforts to achieve a single political bloc.
“We must be serious about the case and necessary to understand that we are not here to do experiments. We need to unite all the opposition and “do it in the most serious, clear way and with the least burden of personal interests,” expressed the national head of the MNR.
