After the announcement that the buses that transport migrants from Darién to Chiriquí were going to be inspected, the director of the Land Transit and Transportation Authority, Carlos Ordoñez, spoke on Radio Panama about what took place this weekend.
“What we did was verify again the documents of these vehicles and certain security issues established by decree 640 such as reflective tape, the triangle, smoked paper in the front, smooth tires, lights, in terms of documents we reviewed the insurance policy, the operation certificate, the vehicle registration, your purchase of license plate up to date, both private and transport, we were accompanied by other institutions such as the Ombudsman’s Office, Senafront, Migration and the Senafront if I take their mechanics to do a mechanical inspection of the buses,” explained Ordoñez.
More than 60 vehicles were inspected in the Metetí area so that the transfer of migrants is as safe as possible from Darién to the Temporary Immigration Reception Station.
