In a devastating outcome, the authorities of Sogamoso, Boyacá, confirmed that the lifeless body found on January 12 in the village of El Ciral corresponds to Sarita Michel Vargas, a girl of only 11 years old who had been missing since December 25. of 2024.
The case has generated national outrage, especially after it was revealed that her cousin, Juan R., who initially helped in the search and publicly protested for the minor’s freedom, was captured as the main suspect in the crime.
The mayor of Sogamoso, Mauricio Barón, confirmed that Sarita’s body was found just 1.5 kilometers from her home, in a rural area.
“This has been reported by the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI). We hope that the person captured for this act pays and responds promptly for the macabre crime committed against the humanity of Sarita Michel,” Barón declared with visible consternation.
