The aforementioned police detachment was much requested by the neighbors and will be a reference, in security, for the Canarian town. The inauguration was carried out with the participation of the head of the Ministry of the Interior (MI), Luis Alberto Heber; the Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning, Irene Moreira, and the president of Mevir, Juan Pablo Delgado. The police must be close to the town, Heber stressed.
Montes celebrates its 130th anniversary and this October 17, it presented the new deputy commissioner, of about 113 square meters built.
The event was also attended by the Undersecretary for Housing, Tabaré Hackenbruch; the mayor of Montes, Rodolfo Salvarrey, police authorities, departmental authorities and residents of the area.
For Heber, it is key to be close to the people. He assured that the Police, in the interior of the country, not only attend to emergencies related to security. He also thanked the support commissions, which are “the force and an integral part” of this connection with the community.
In a press release, the minister added that the permanent police presence is a necessity of the localities. In addition, the possibility of having a place to go gives peace of mind to society, he said, referring to the police station. It is a policy of the Ministry of the Interior to have more police stations, deputy police stations and patrols, he asserted.
He announced that, after the Rendering of Accounts, 650 vacancies will be generated to continue expanding the staff.
Meanwhile, Moreira stressed that “Mevir not only builds houses, it creates community” and underlined the importance of the Police in the territory, which is in contact with the neighbors.
Delgado also referred to the policy carried out by this Government, to generate a sense of belonging from security, education and health. Likewise, he recalled that with this agreement, signed last year with the portfolio, more than 12 works have been completed, of which some are still in progress and others are finished.
The sub-police station encompasses three objectives: that the people who work there do so in a decent place, that those who come are received in a suitable infrastructure and that the headquarters become a point of reference, in security, for the neighbors, said the hierarch.
In addition, he indicated that the next inauguration will be that of a fire station in Quebracho, Paysandú. “It will be the first time in 55 years that Mevir will carry out this type of construction,” he said.
After the oratory, the authorities discovered a commemorative plaque.
