Due to the increase in cases of COVID-19 in recent weeks and the appearance of a new Peruvian variant, it is better to prevent and avoid crowds during the day of the Second Regional Election 2022, next December 4. Do you know what the ONPE recommended schedule is?
A total of 6 million 892,945 citizens from nine regions of the country are authorized to go to the polls and it is preferable that it be done in an orderly manner. At the moment, the use of the mask is optional.
For election day, the ONPE will set up around 23,578 polling stations in 3,477 polling places in those nine regions. Both polling station members and voters are required to participate in the elections. Learn more about the elections.
WHY WILL THERE BE A SECOND ROUND IN THE REGIONAL ELECTIONS?
In a total of nine regions of the country, the second round will take place, because -in the elections on October 2, 2022- none of the candidates reached 30% of the valid votes to be elected to the position of regional governor.
In this case, in accordance with the Regional Elections Law (Law 27683), the two formulas with the highest number of votes from each region go to ballot. Elections must be held within 30 calendar days following the proclamation of the official counts. The list of directors is not going to the second round.
WHERE DO I HAVE TO VOTE IN THE SECOND ELECTION ROUND TO ELECT THE REGIONAL GOVERNORS?
You must enter the link enabled by the ONPE to make the consultation. Follow these steps:
- Enter the ONPE web portal: https://consultaelectoral.onpe.gob.pe/ or click this LINK.
- Write your ID number.
- Click on “Query”.
- Your data will appear (names, surnames, ID, district) and you will be able to know where it is your turn to vote and if you were elected a polling station member.

WHAT TIME SHOULD YOU GO TO VOTE IN THE RUN-OFF ELECTION?
Due to the increase in cases of COVID-19, for this Second Regional Election 2022 (SER2022)the ONPE suggests going to vote at different times to avoid crowds and prevent contagion. According to the last digit of the DNI, the recommended hours are:
- If the ID ends in 1, 2, 3 and 4: it is recommended to go from 7 am to 11 am
- If the ID ends in 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0: it is recommended to go from 11 am to 5 pm
- If the voter is in a risk group: it is recommended to go from 2 pm to 5 pm
