He Minister of Culture of the Nation, Tristán Bauer, and the president of the Cultural Institute of the province of Buenos Aires, Florencia Saintout; visited the works of house restoration where the singer-songwriter María Elena Walsh was born, located in Morón, where a cultural space will function to rescue her work.
“I appreciate the joint work between the municipality, the province and the nation in this task of honoring the life of an exceptional woman who has marked us so much in our childhoods and culturally as a country,” said the Minister of Culture after the visit.
Saintout, for his part, considered that “María Elena Walsh belongs to everyone and all generations, this will be seen in this proposal” and stressed that “40 years of democracy, celebrating the life of María Elena Walsh is also celebrating democracy.”
The house of the Argentine writer, poet and composer, located on Tres de Febrero street, in Villa Sarmiento, passed into the hands of the State with the aim of enhancing it and turning it into a cultural space for the exhibition and preservation of life and work of one of the greatest references of Argentine culture, intended for the entire community.
According to Culture, it is expected that the community, through various pieces and interactive proposals, learn who María Elena Walsh was and the legacy she left with her songs.
In a statement, the Ministry indicated that the officials participated in the tour together with the quartermaster Lucas Ghi and the Buenos Aires Sociocultural Promotion Undersecretary, within the framework of the commemorative activities for the 93rd anniversary of his birth.
Along these lines, Ghi highlighted the “importance of interaction with the teams that are thinking about the programmatic content of this space so that the people of Morón, the province of Buenos Aires and the country as a whole take ownership and enjoy it. “.
Riesgo considered that “recovering this house makes enormous sense not only for the community of Morón but for the entire province of Buenos Aires because of the figure of María Elena Walsh.”
“This proposal also has to do with rescuing this construction of the Buenos Aires identity of our cultural personalities”indicated.
