Brigade members continued this Tuesday morning working to control the fire that has affected the Chubut town of El Hoyo since Sunday, and which is estimated to have started intentionallyalthough with a “more encouraging picture” since the people evacuated yesterday are returning to their homes, official sources reported.

“The tasks continue with manual tools, water equipment and aerial means to control active sources for their subsequent liquidation,” said the Planning Unit of the Provincial Fire Management Service-Forest Secretariat.

The head of Civil Defense of El Hoyo, Luciana Cárdenas, said in dialogue with Télam that this Tuesday “the outlook is much more encouraging” and maintained that after the meeting of the Municipal Emergency Committee (COEM) “the orange alert was lifted yesterday for the affected neighborhoods that were Valle del Pirque and El Sauzal”, so the evacuated population “is returning to their homes”.

“The fire is still active, work continues, all the resources are available, the air resources are working and there is a long way to go and at the moment we have an affected house and two sheds,” Cárdenas explained.
