The surprising bouncing of household spending in March: will inflation impact?

The Raddar firm presented on Wednesday, April 16, its most recent report on the spending of Colombian households, which showed a growth of 3.44% in March 2025, compared to March 2024.

Another of the good news that the fact left is that the dynamics was accompanied by growth in all spending groups.

According to radar, All measured baskets grew, just like spending in all cities.

For the firm, March 2025 will become the turning point for the spending of households in Colombia and the end of postpandymia adjustment.

“We will have to wait for the effects of the World Trade War and its consequences on inflation and the impact of the decisions of the National Government on Taxes to Companies,” The report stands out.

According to the report, the result reflects the purchase disposition of households, “In the middle of a scenario where economic indicators seem to have an optimal trend”.

This means that the improvement in consumption would be driven by a more favorable macroeconomic environment and a better panorama in consumers’ confidence.

Finally, it should be remembered that the radar data is different from that of the DANE, and consequently it is projected that the household consumption account of the National Administrative Department of 2025 grows about 2.3%.
