The Supreme Court endorses the reform of the pension system

A company promoted an amparo against the modifications to the Social Security Law, since it considered that with the increase in contributions “the social burden of pensions is left only on employers.”

However, the ministers unanimously endorsed the proposal of Minister Yasmín Esquivel Mossa, in the sense of refusing to grant the aforementioned amparo.

The ministers considered that public spending on pensions should be shared by employers and the State.

In addition, because “taxpayers must contribute to public spending based on their respective contributory capacity, contributing an adequate part of their income, profits, yields, or the manifestation of taxed wealth.”
