A security strategy called “Summer Plan” began this Saturday, April 9, in Nicaragua, with the aim of avoiding deaths in the resorts or on the country’s highways during Holy Week.
The Nicaraguan Red Cross deployed more than 2,000 volunteers in 95 resorts in the country, mainly to monitor the beaches, coasts and rivers, with the aim of preventing deaths from drowning, or carrying out rescues when necessary.

The National Police deployed some 14,000 agents in the streets, bus terminals, squares, and tourist destinations, to guarantee citizen security, as reported by the institution.
For its part, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) began a day of inspections and training, which aim to avoid unforeseen events.
The health authorities announced that they will carry out 8,883 health inspections in bars, restaurants and recreational centers, 6,144 trainings for food handlers, and 636 aquatic recreation centers.
The Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism indicated that the Nicaraguan authorities will have a presence in 1,200 tourist sites to guarantee “a safe summer.”
Holy Week, which this year will last until the 17th, is one of the times of the year that Nicaraguans take advantage of to take vacations and visit the beaches.
In 2021, more than 3.8 million Nicaraguans traveled in the interior of Nicaragua, both to enjoy tourist centers and to visit their relatives, according to data from the Nicaraguan government.
Holy Week 2021 left in Nicaragua a balance of at least 28 people killed by different violent acts, including drowning, homicides, parricide, suicide, and that of a minor who fell from a tree, according to the report of the authorities.
